Abstract
The right to freedom of speech is considered one of the civil political rights of human beings, which is encouraged and approved in the teachings of the Islamic school. God, in His wise providence, created man as a being who thinks and speaks. The power of thinking and speaking are two great graces of God, and the accessories of both of them exist naturally in humans. Freedom of speech in the field of politics is based on principles such as the invitation to think, the principle of consultation, the principle of enjoining what is good and forbidding what is bad. Of course, there are limits for this type of freedom, which can be mentioned as avoiding conspiracy, insulting dignity, and insulting Islamic holy things. The practical life of Hazrat Ali - peace be upon him - and his advice to his agents in paying attention to the principle of freedom of expression in society and politics, brings its importance to the fore. Criticism in the thought of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is not considered a reprehensible or objectionable thing, but it is a way and method by which the society will be organized. People have the right to determine their own destiny and they can accept any type of government and ruling person and submit to his government. Political freedom can be interpreted and defined as the freedom of opposition activities within the limits of the law, or as the role and influence of the people in the government, or as the mutual relationship between the individual and the government, in any case, in Imam Ali's thought. -Peace be upon you- you can find the content and examples of these definitions.
