Abstract

Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and leave them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great. (Nasa': 34) has always been a place of debate and opinion among commentators, jurists and jurists - for its functions and individual and social benefits and its result in judicial rulings and examination and controversy in cases of men's superiority over women and women's defense of their position. However, all of them have accepted that the noble verse implies the superiority of men over women in some matters. At the same time, contrary to the general opinion that Aya Sharifah is only a special explanation and refers to the superiority of husband over wife in managing family affairs, this article aims to explain the authority of men over women in matters of government and judgment into three approximations: a) General explanation b) revision of the criteria and c) Fahwi, as well as the statement of the commentators of the Qur'an to prove and state that the guardianship of the husband over the wife is only one of the
aspects of the verse and not all of it.
